Showgirls
The story
An ambitious dancer pursues success in Las Vegas.
Critical appreciation
A breathtaking examination of ambition, artistic integrity, and the cutthroat world of professional dance. Elizabeth Berkley delivers a performance of such extraordinary emotional intensity that even the simplest exchange of dialogue becomes a full-body experience. The film's groundbreaking aquatic choreography forever redefined the boundaries between romance, competitive athletics, and swimming pool safety.
